This movable roof designed and created by Lanaro to cover this cloister in Riyadh has been made with a series of structural cables placed to create a specif shape on roof and able also to channel the rainwater to the sides of the roof, keeping a light weight structure at the same time.
The peculiarity of this system, made by head trusses moved by electric engines, able to arrange the membrane and the structural cables along the roof, is the introduction of an hydraulic pistons system able to pull the cables and to tension the membrane, giving to the roof resistance and a characteristic shape at the same time.
